Perrier-Jouët gives its historic winery a new lease of life
fter being mothballed for several decades, Perrier-Jouët has given its historic winery located Avenue de Champagne in Epernay a new lease of life. Officially opened during the 2024 harvest season, after two and a half years of refurbishment, the building is now entirely dedicated to fermenting and maturing its Chardonnay wines.
“To bolster the distinctive floral signature style of its Champagnes, perfect its silky-soft texture and also add a subtle spice touch”, Perrier-Jouët has invested in large and small fine-grain French oak barrels from the Saint-Palais forests in Cher and Darney in the Vosges region. To ensure its sourcing was as “local and natural as possible”, the company also brought in slate craftsmen from Les Pans de Travassac, north of Brive-La-Gaillarde in Corrèze, central France.
