The 10th Chardonnay Day took place in Chardonnay, where else?

esidents in the French village of Chardonnay invited enthusiasts of the “most famous white wine on the planet” to return to its roots for the 10th Chardonnay Day. Although the event was created in California, the variety’s namesake village north of Lyon is where Chardonnay originally came from.
On Thursday May 9, on Ascension Day – which is celebrated as a bank holiday in France – producers from the Mâcon-Chardonnay appellation gathered on Place de l’Eglise to host tastings of their wines. To draw in the crowds, the village organised an exhibition of vintage cars, a blacksmith’s workshop and a pop-rock concert. For foodies, ham was cooked on a spit.
Throughout the day, as is customary, everyone was invited to share their experience of the grape variety on social media, using the hashtags #ChardonnayDay and #Bourgogne.
Next year, the village of Chardonnay will be hosting the 43rd Saint Vincent Tournante.
