Champagne: name recognition in China and Brazil

he Comité Interprofessionnel des Vins de Champagne (CIVC) can celebrate Brasil and China recognization of the Champagne geographical indication. In these two emerging markets, the Champagne appellation will now be protected against fraud and unfair competition.
Visiting China, the Agriculture Minister Stéphane Le Foll revealed the chinese recognition of Champagne wines that April 11. On April 18, the registration of champagnes by brazilian authorities was set in São Paulo. Under the motto "champagnes only come from Champagne" the Champagne Committee defends the Champagne appellation, with a budget of 2 million euros each year. Canada and Chile should be the next country to sign such protection agreements.
