Chile: New acquisition for Concha Y Toro

hile's leading wine operator, Concha Y Toro has just announced the acquisition of Vino Francisco de Aguirre. This company based in the Limari Valley, north of Chile, was up until now controlled by Capel, a cooperative group specialising in the production of Pisco, a local brandy. The company was purchased for the sum of 13 million euros. The acquisition includes all of Vina Francisco de Aguirre's assets: 300 hectares under vine, winemaking installations, portfolio of brands?This move reflects Concha Y Toro's current strategy based on external growth in view of increasing its export sales in volume. The group currently employs over 1,600 people and represents a turnover of 200 million euros.
