Australia’s Jane Eyre takes over at the helm of Clos des Epeneaux at Domaine du Comte Armand
elbourne native Jane Eyre, who has lived in France since 2004 and established her own trading company fifteen years ago, has become technical manager for Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard.
Working in viticulture and winemaking since 1998, she was voted negociant of the year in 2021 after making Burgundy her permanent home in 2004. She is now taking over technical responsibility for the estate’s wines, “which have been made biodynamically for over thirty years”, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The estate “owns the prestigious Clos des Epeneaux, a monopole covering over five hectares classified as Premier Cru in Pommard”, states a press release. The other vineyards belonging to the estate are spread over the villages of Volnay and Auxey-Duresses while a trading business offers a more extensive range of wines.
The manager of Domaine Olivier Armand has therefore “handed over responsibility for making future vintages” to Jane Eyre and is delighted that “the excellence and identity that define the Pommard wines by Clos des Epeneaux and all the wines by Comte Armand” will continue.
