Pierre-Philippe Trinez new chairman of Bordeaux winemakers
ierre-Philippe Trinez, who graduated as a winemaker in 2016 after a career change, has succeeded Diala Younes-Lavenu at the helm of the Bordeaux winemakers’ association which Younes-Lavenu had chaired for eight years. Trinez currently works as area manager for the Sofralab group. Concurrently with his new position, the association’s board has been “renewed and strengthened”, explains a press release.
Its new chairman intends to follow in his predecessor’s footsteps whilst stressing the need to recruit new, younger volunteers for the association.
“I want to ensure a seamless transition with the work of my predecessor and aim to re-energise the involvement of our members and ensure a sustainable future for our events, including the Oenofestiv’, the Bordeaux winemakers’ morning conference and our themed tastings”, he commented during his induction ceremony. His aim is to see “the future built around our young winemakers”, calling for “a stronger mentorship approach” to facilitate their inclusion in the industry. In 2026, the association celebrates its sixtieth anniversary and Trinez will be seeking to diversify its resources to ensure its long-term economic future, “so that our organisation remains a forum for engagement, despite the challenges”.
