The 2026 Percée du Vin Jaune “will make a big difference to our volunteers, but not to visitors”
opular with visitors but too great a burden for volunteers, the Percée du Vin Jaune had reached its limitation in 2024, and could therefore not be hosted in 2025. The ‘gap year’ allowed the Percée du Vin Jaune ambassadors’ association, which organises the event, to think about its future.
“For the past few years, its organisation depended on too few volunteers for an event of this magnitude, attended by around 40,000 visitors”, explains Victor Feuvrier, one of the 2026 ambassadors. “The 2024 event was particularly exhausting for the team at the time who realised that they had to find another solution”.
Their first step was to recruit professional events organiser Laurène Hivon. Stricter controls over visitor numbers have also been introduced for 2026. “We are limiting the number of tickets for the Saturday to 17,000 and 13,000 for the Sunday. With local residents, the number of visitors should total between 30,000 and 35,000 over the weekend”. The precautionary measure seems even more justified by the expectations stemming from this year’s hiatus. “When we announced in February that that the 2026 Percée would go ahead, we received several emails a week from people asking when tickets would go on sale! On the day they did, 2,500 tickets were sold and a total of 7,500 in the first month. That’s unprecedented, and it’s also excellent that we have this cash flow to manage the budget”.
The only downside is that attendance by winegrowers is likely to be lower due to an all-time low in production in 2024. “For the 2027 Percée we hope there will be more producers, but it will depend on the harvests in 2025 and 2026”.
