nother special patron has been chosen for the 165th Hospices Civils de Beaune auction. French actor Vincent Lacoste joins a line-up of stars featuring the film director Cédric Klapisch, DJ Martin Solveig and fellow actress Alice Taglioni to chair the sale of the charity barrel, a Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens. The proceeds from the sale of the charity barrel this year will be donated to two associations: EHCO Enfance et Handicap and the Robert-Debré Institute for Childrens’ Brains.

Vincent Lacoste first rose to fame in 2009 in the film Les Beaux Gosses by Riad Satouf, who would go on to devote a comic book series to him, Le Jeune Acteur in 2021. Lacoste also starred in the film Saint-Amour by Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern (2016) where father and son farmers played by Gérard Depardieu and Benoît Poelvoorde tour France and its wines.

Lacoste plays the taxi driver who takes them from one vineyard to the next. In a scene that has now become cult, Benoît Poelvoorde teaches him about the ten stages of drunkenness: relaxation, liberation, truth, drowsiness, violence along with an outpouring of love, pathos, hunger, a frenzied search for sex, deep sleep and shame. “Your theory doesn’t really make you want to start a career as a drunk”, replies Lacoste, who will be able to practise moderation and sensible drinking at this year’s auction whose proceeds are donated to the hospital in Beaune.
