Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils stripped of its top Grands Crus to create Domaine des Cabottes

fter absorbing the vineyards and brands belonging to the family-owned group Henriot in 2022, Artémis Domaines has announced that it is restructuring “Bouchard Père & Fils into two different, independent estates”. The aim is to showcase its most prestigious growths in a separate entity covering one third of Bouchard’s vines, equivalent to 35 hectares. In practical terms, this means that starting with the 2023 vintage – released for sale in 2026 – “the iconic vineyards, some of the most prestigious in the Côte de Beaune, will now be grouped together under the name Domaine des Cabottes”. These are Grands Crus in Puligny-Montrachet and Corton hill, the main Meursault Premiers Crus, the Volnay Premier Cru Les Caillerets and iconic ‘climats’ such as the Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus, explained the wine group that belongs to the Pinault family (Kering luxury goods group: Balenciaga, Boucheron, Gucci, Saint Laurent…) and Henriot-Larouzière.
“The reorganisation is not just about premiumisation – it stems primarily from our desire to focus all the necessary attention on each entity and each Burgundy ‘climat’ that it comprises in order to showcase its quintessential qualities”, the group told Vitisphere. Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils covers vineyards in the Meursault, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune Premier Cru appellations. The wines will be made in Savigny-lès-Beaune whereas Domaine des Cabottes wines will be vinted in a dedicated winery at Château de Puligny-Montrachet starting in 2027, with work currently ongoing.
