Norah Jones invests in Bergerac and Limoux wines
y becoming a minority shareholder in Maison R. Wessman in November 2024, singer Norah Jones is intending to hit all the right notes. She will be adding another dimension to the 2016-established company located in Bergerac (with Château Saint-Cernin then the Verdots vineyard in 2021) and Limoux (Vignoble Bugalys), whose annual revenue totals 2.5 million euros. The company is Iceland millionaire Róbert Wessman’s brainchild. Wessmann is at the helm of the pharmaceutical groups Alvogen and Alvotech and he intends to capitalise on the involvement of the American singer in the winery. Jones became famous with her debut album Come Away with Me in 2004 but is also an actress, starring in My Blueberry Nights by Wong Kar-Wai (2007). The New York release of the brand ‘The Life’ as PGI Méditerranée rosé with a recommended retail price of €12.90 and white AOC Crémant de Limoux is a testament to her involvement. The new releases are certainly a lot less divisive than Wessman’s previous blends from different vineyard sites and even countries.
For her first investment in the wine and spirits industry, Jones becomes joint owner with Wessman and his wife Ksenia Wessman. “Norah Jones is a food lover and wine enthusiast. She began to discover and enjoy wine around the age of twenty in France, when she was on tour”, explains Maison Wessman. “Wine is a world she is interested in and enjoys. A friend of hers is in the wine business and is helping her learn about wine”. That probably doesn’t include drinking songs though…
