n Friday July 4, 5,000 people gathered on the hills of Champillon in Marne to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Champagne’s houses, hillsides and cellars being listed as Unesco World Heritage. “It was truly a proud moment when the results of the vote were announced in Bonn on 4 July 2015”, admits winegrower Séverine Couvreur who chairs the Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars Mission. “We secured the Holy Grail, the most prestigious recognition there is. We need to keep this listing in our hearts. For each and every one of us, irrespective of our ages, our origins and our beliefs, it is a pledge whereby we champion the universal value of peace!”
