ascaline Lepeltier, a member of the new Team France for sommeliers, joined an elite training camp in Mâcon a few months ago and excelled in the selection process for the 2024 Europe and Africa’s Best Sommelier competition. She was chosen as France’s candidate for the International Sommelier Association-organised event in Belgrade, Serbia, from November 10 to 15.

Crowned as France’s Best Sommelier and France’s Best Artisan (MOF) in 2018, she was pipped at the post at the Best Sommelier of the World competition last year in Paris. In this year’s selection process, however, she excelled in the various tests in English which separated the candidates.

To perfect her preparation, the author of a book that every self-respecting wine enthusiast should read will head for Peru to follow a course on coffee with retailer Arbre à Café.

She will also take part in new training camps hosted by MOF David Biraud, along with Gaëtan Bouvier, Florent Martin and Philippe Troussard.
