Wine producers of Aquitaine show a growing interest for organic viticulture. In 2011, the surface area of organic certified vineyards in Aquitaine increased by 31%. Given this development, producers need to organise their efforts regarding both production and promotion within their union : le Syndicat des Vignerons Bio d'Aquitaine (SVBA). "Many growers are getting onboard and we are delighted. Our mission is always to help everyone to find opportunities. We have to be more active on the sales front and on the promotion of organic wines", states president of the SVBA, Patrick Boudon.
The membership of SVBA is growing at a similar pace as conversion to organic agriculture in Aquitaine. The number of vineyards certified organic / in conversion grew by 17% in 2012 while the number of members of the progressed by 19%.
Cooperation is being explored with other vineyards including the Languedoc-Roussillon. The Union des Vignerons Bio d'Aquitaine also organises its presence in major events of national and international reputation (Prowein, Vinexpo ...). Among these, Bordeaux Futures are a not-to-be-missed event, during which les Vignerons Bio d'Aquitaine will be well represented this year again. Professionals are invited to taste organic wines from more than 30 appellations of Aquitaine, en primeur.
