he Laudun-Chusclan co-operative winery in Gard, southern France, was proud and delighted to announce to the media on May 19 that it had been awarded the highest level of AFAQ 26 0000 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) certification. Scoring 712 out of a total 1,000 points, it achieved the ‘exemplary’ level of certification in its February 2017 assessment, the first time round. “Of the 400 companies committed to the scheme nationwide, only 15% achieved certification”, claimed Christine Sorli, Afnor deputy regional representative for Occitanie, during the official presentation. “These are excellent results, especially for a first assessment and over such a short time span. I congratulate the winery”.

For its executives, chairman Philippe Pellaton and director Philippe Amphoux, the distinction is no more than the logical conclusion to “all the initiatives rolled out beforehand by the winery” in areas such as the environment, wine tourism, planning, human resources management, product quality schemes and helping young wine growers start up. “It didn’t require any specific effort or present any challenges. It just happened quite naturally”, commented Pellaton.
