AOP Languedoc has devised a new regional wine fair in Montpellier, with support from the Montpellier city council and conurbation, the Occitania regional council and the Hérault county council. The first Montpellier ‘Dégustez en VO!’ exhibition, a nod to the PR and marketing campaign launched last year by the Occitania regional council under the banner Vignoble d'Occitanie (VO), will take place on 6 and 7 March 2022 at the Corum convention centre in Montpellier.

It will be a relaxed, manageable exhibition in terms of footprint. Exhibitors will be able to organise evening events and gatherings in historic sites in Montpellier. The idea is for it to spread out across the city. Excursions to the various vineyards across the region will also be organised before the exhibition for journalists and buyers”, says Jean-Philippe Granier, technical director of the producers’ organisation.

Philippe Peytavy, winegrower at Clos de l'Amandaie in Aumelas, was one of the first to sign up. He already attends Millésime Bio and Wine Paris and is delighted with the launch of the new trade fair: “We have lost Vinisud, which was our flagship exhibition in Montpellier. There is strong demand among winegrowers for this local event. It is highly complementary to Wine Paris and Millésime Bio, which each have their own audiences. We will see how buyers react. But we are well aware of the fact that it will take time to establish. The maiden event will be pivotal”.
