The first digital Millésime Bio trade fair, which this year opened in two stages, first from Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 January, then on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 March, has delivered on its promise, which was to provide new tools for connecting supply and demand for organic wines worldwide. With 1,000 exhibitors and 4,000 visitors, its organisers registered 20,000 online connections over five days. “We cannot compare these figures with those of a physical event”, warned Jeanne Fabre, chair of the Millésime Bio association with the SudVinBio marketing board. She did however stress the satisfaction of being able to provide an alternative after the raft of trade fair cancellations, starting with ProWein in March 2020.

Millésime Bio’s organisers have now announced the dates of the next exhibition, from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 January 2022. Even if the global vaccination campaign allows them to envisage the end of the health crisis and a return to a physical event in ten months’ time, Millésime Bio 2022 should still retain its digital attributes. The “phygital” event, a combination of physical and digital, “would be a hybrid format, which would not take place simultaneously. Nothing is set in stone as yet and all decisions will be taken collectively depending on how the situation evolves”, claimed Fabre, whose priority remains the physical exhibition allowing wines to be tasted in person.
