Although appearance-wise there is no change, in substance the move is designed to make all the difference. After the first concurrent Wine Paris and Vinexpo Paris trade exhibitions took place in 2020, the event is due to go solo from 15 to 17 February 2021 under the banner Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris. Merging the two names into a single brand (using an ampersand), the exhibitions hold on to their individual identities without ruffling any local feathers. The new name marks the merger of their respective shareholders, Comexposium (for Wine Paris, formerly Vinovision and Vinisud) and the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry (which has been running Vinexpo since 1981). The two are currently in negotiations to establish a single company specialised in hosting trade shows, which is expected to be finalised this summer.

With a single event and merged sales teams, canvassing the 2,900 exhibitors expected to attend should no longer be held back by the issues that beset the first joint event. The directors of the two events, Pascale Ferranti and Rodolphe Lameyse, have continually hammered home that Wine Paris & Vinexpo's objective remains to wrest the title of leading business event for wines and spirits away from ProWein.
