This isn’t the first time the two Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil winegrowers have taken a humorous approach. As fans of comic books, they recently launched a collection of wines called the Comic's with a range of fun labels. Their campaign went, well, viral on Facebook. The Jamet brothers in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil have fought back at the Covid-19 crisis, drawing on humour as a weapon. Their schoolboy antics saw them release a “space offer” for a “skype-walker aperitif”, where they pose masked on a vintage scooter with a pipette for a sabre. The winegrowers used the visual to promote their offer of free delivery for orders of 36 bottles or more, as opposed to the usual 90. “The visual, a tribute to Star Wars, has really boosted our sales. It has been shared a lot on Facebook, and people who until now were just friends with us on social media have bought wines from us. In the current climate, you can't complain and add more negativity when everyone is experiencing challenging times. By using funny, event-related communications we can play down the drama, make people laugh, send out a positive message and trigger purchases”, explained François Jamet.

The Jamet brothers are not going to see a drop in sales this month. In addition to their sales to private customers, they secured new listings several months ago with a supermarket chain and an online retailer. “The orders are now coming to fruition, and this is an opportunity for us to reap the benefits in these challenging times”.
