Albert Bichot takes home one fifth of casks auctioned at the Hospices de Beaune

Buying at the Hospices de Beaune is as much a tradition as a commitment”, explains Albéric Bichot, chairman of Maison Albert Bichot. The company certainly didn’t depart from tradition this year, acquiring 122 ‘pièces’ or casks (82 of red wine and 40 of white), equating to nearly 21% of the total number of casks auctioned for €2,795,100. Over the last 10 years, Albert Bichot has acquired 1,002 of the 6,257 casks sold by the Hospices de Beaune.

12.3 million euros in proceeds

The 159th Hospices de Beaune auction on Sunday 17 November generated sales of 12.3 million euros, less than the record 14 million euros posted in 2018 but nevertheless the second highest proceeds despite lower volumes.
