Actress, singer and director Zhao Wei is gradually building up a wine group in Bordeaux. Since 2011, the Chinese star has successively bought Châteaux Monlot (8 ha in AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru), Patarabet (9 ha in AOC Saint-Émilion), Senailhac (57 ha in Entre-Deux-Mers) and this year Château La Croix de la Roche (12 ha in AOC Fronsac and Bordeaux). Revealed by Laurence Lemaire, this latest acquisition was signed on March 29. Isabelle Maurin, who had owned the château since 1982, sold it due to lack of a family member willing to take over the property.

By acquiring Château La Croix de la Roche and its 82,000 bottles of potential annual production, Zhao Wei will be able to expand her range of wines. She gains her first certified organic property and new appellations: 4,000 bottles of Fronsac and 10,000 bottles of Crémant de Bordeaux (the property also produces 3,000 bottles of white Bordeaux, as well as 60,000 bottles of red Bordeaux and Bordeaux supérieur).
