Veuve Clicquot cellar master and renowned winemaker, Dominique Demarville, has announced to staff that he will be leaving the company next December, leaving him time to train his successor. The decision came out of nowhere, prompting many comments on the reasons for his departure. He joined Clicquot in 2009, taking over from Jacques Péters.

Praised for his people skills, Dominique Demarville was previously cellar master at Mumm, a position he held for twelve years.

Demarville, who is in his fifties, has not reached the end of his professional life. Various sources are already intimating that he may continue his career path with Laurent-Perrier.
