Switzerland is pleased to welcome the OIV for the third time in its history”, said Livia Leu Agosti, Swiss Ambassador to France, on April 5 at the presentation of the Congress at the Swiss Embassy.

The country will host the 42nd International Organisation of Vine and Wine Congress from 15 to 19 July 2019 in Geneva.

Organisation

Over a five-day period, the congress will include a scientific programme and technical visits to meet producers in the Swiss wine regions”, explained Simone de Montmollin, chair of the event's organising committee. “The main theme is ‘Preservation and innovation: the sector's environmental, economic and social expectations’”. It involves a look back over 30 years of viticultural, oenological and economic research with today's innovations to better understand and describe consumer perceptions and expectations. “The closing of the congress will be celebrated during the Vevey winegrowers' festival on the shores of Lake Geneva”, said an enthusiastic Simone de Montmollin.
