Champagne house Palmer & Co has announced the end of building work and completion of its new cellar in Villers-aux-Noeuds (51), near Reims, at the foot of the Montagne de Reims. A press release called the new building a “strategic tool that supports the company's growth and is in line with its sustainable development policy”.

An HQE building

The new building has a bioclimatic design, favouring natural light, using the slope of the ground for gravity feed, featuring “acoustic and hygrothermal spatial comfort”, and involving strict selection of building materials.

The building has a footprint of 2,000 m2 and storage capacity of 21,350 hl, with 18 tanks holding 204 hl, 36 tanks holding 415 hl and 1 tank holding 2,740 hl. The vat room is designed for reserve wines. The site also includes a tasting room overlooking the tanks.

The total investment amounted to 11 million euros.
