“Congratulations for this show. This is the way forward and visitor numbers need to continue to increase”, said satisfied New York buyer Angelo Martelli, responsible for a dozen Fairway stores in New York State, at the end of his second day at Vinexpo New York. The comments by this significant market player, who is preparing to spend a week in Vinitaly with his own importer, sum up the atmosphere that reigned in the American city.
Despite an umpteenth snow storm, the show attracted some 3,000 visitors, this time from almost all the American states and Canadian provinces, as it did last year. They were welcomed by 400 producers behind their small counters, most of them gathered on pavilions such as the Loire, Italy, Spain and Brazil.
Interest in organic farming was confirmed through the WOW, or World of Organic Wines section, launched in Bordeaux in 2017. It was joined this year by a loyal Vinexpo supporter, Nicolas Joly and his biodynamic association Renaissance des Appellations, of which approximately sixty members presented their wines.
