Since the beginning of 2019, trading company InVivo Wine has been the exclusive worldwide distributor of Château Maris, a 50-hectare Languedoc property located in the Minervois la Livinière appellation. Mostly marketed abroad (85% of 2018 sales), the wines boast progressive environmental credentials. The estate’s commitment to sustainability has been validated by organic certification since 2002 (Ecocert), biodynamic since 2004 (Biodyvin) and 2008 (Demeter), as well as B Corp since 2016, a community that upholds environmental and societal principles.

Château Maris was therefore ranked “one of the five most environmentally-friendly estates in the world” by the American magazine Wine Spectator, according to a press release by InVivo Wine. The partnership allows the co-operative group's wine subsidiary to expand its organic proposition (for Baarsma Wines' Dutch subsidiaries and InVivo Wine's American and Asian subsidiaries).

Founded in 1997 by Englishman Robert Eden and sustainable development entrepreneur Kevin Parker, Château Maris now announces that it will focus mainly on production. “By drawing on the expertise[of Robert Eden], we will be able to accelerate development of organic products, promote sustainable viticulture and build a structured range of wines in the premium organic segment”, concludes InVivo Wine CEO Frédéric Noyère, in a statement.

Made from hemp blocks and a wooden structure, Château Maris’ winery was built without carbon dioxide emissions according to its co-owners, Kevin Parker and Robert Eden.
