Regulations in the wine sector are among the most stringent. They must not be an obstacle to trade in wine and we must ensure a balance”, said Pau Roca, director of OIV since November 2018, as he presented his New Year wishes on Wednesday, January 16. Recalling OIV’s missions, the new director outlined the three main lines of his strategic plan for the next five years.

Digitising industry data

We must help build the environmental, commercial and social sustainability of the sector”, he said. “To do this, digitisation must be used to provide more efficient information systems. We need to integrate new technologies into OIV tools”. No practical details were given: “We will explain all this in April”, he added. The last strategic mission is to review good regulatory and administrative practices. “We also want to make attractive recommendations and proposals so that other states become members”.
