From listening to the ‘song’ of the woods to touching the moss on the trunks, Château Smith Haut Lafitte’s ‘forest of the five senses’ offers a ‘synesthetic’ walk whose originality has earned it the 2019 ‘International Best Of Wine Tourism’ award. The forest was awarded in the ‘Art and Culture’ category on November 8 at the general assembly of the Great Wine Capitals network in Australia. The Graves Classified Growth’s artistic pathway features works of contemporary art through its 8 hectares of woodland (see video below).

Land art

An example of the land art movement, the artistic forest is open seven days a week, all year round. The two-hour walk costs €18 /person, with a tasting of the property's wines at the end. The trail had already been the recipient of an award in Bordeaux at the end of October, making the property eligible for the finals of the Best of Wine Tourism International Trophy.
