From the groom in livery to the plush suites, the ‘Grand Burgundy Hotel’ will have all it takes to provide a novel tasting experience for 400 trade visitors expected to attend on 21 January 2019 in the Saint-Germain district of Paris. “This is a themed event designed to offer a unique experience based on value and pleasure for money”, explains Delphine Petit, marketing manager for the Burgundy Wine Marketing Board (BIVB).

Reserved for wines retailing for under 15 euros, this original setting is designed to “highlight the unsuspected treasures of Burgundy by combatting the misconception that they are inaccessible. The visitor must leave with a modern and appealing vision of the wines," adds Delphine Petit. The mansion, which has been completely renovated, will feature original staging to make a lasting impression.

Virtual reality, escape game, food and wine challenge...

Targeting 40 journalists and 350 influencers from all the Paris sales channels - wine merchants, supermarkets, restaurants... and hotels - the event’s remit is to present, in a novel way, 200 wines over 600 m². Over three stories, the ‘Grand Burgundy Hotel’ will host 50 exhibitors - cooperative wineries, shippers and growers - selected on the basis of price criteria and accolades awarded by guides and competitions.

Suites will also be set up for some very offbeat tastings: visitors will be able to experience a vineyard visit using virtual reality for the 14 Burgundy growths identified, including Côte d'Or, Montrecul and Tonnerre; an escape game in the hotel's cellars will introduce them to the 27 villages of Mâcon; and a fun masterclass where sommelier Fabrice Sommier will challenge participants to find the right pairings for dishes and wines from the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation will be hosted.
