You cannot invent wine tourism. You have to invest a lot to pass muster. This is where the future lies, but it has to be done properly”, said Frédérique Olivié, owner of Château le Bouïs, in the hills of La Clape, not far from Gruissan, during the official opening of the final phase of her wine tourism centre on 25 June 2018. She knows what she's talking about. Since taking over the estate in 2007, she has built up her project phase by phase, starting with restructuring the vineyard which today covers 32 hectares. In 2009, she created the reception centre with guest rooms and a restaurant. Then she introduced wine tourism activities in conjunction with local tourism players such as Sud de France and the Gruissan tourist information office. The latest part of the project is the opening of the new modern tasting cellar with its 300 m2 footprint and a wine tourism trail with interactive areas including a treasure hunt for children. The €1.5 million project was subsidised to the tune of €500,000.
