Guillaume Deglise, who has been at the helm of Vinexpo for five years, will leave the company after Vinexpo Hong Kong which takes place from May 29 to 31, 2018. He has chosen to move on but for the moment has not revealed more details. Neither has he released any information on why he made the decision at a time when he was building a new strategy and new positioning for Vinexpo.

International Development

After being appointed head of Vinexpo in September 2013, Deglise succeeded in breathing new life into the Bordeaux show by revising its format and innovating in terms of content. He even managed to convince the industry of the relevance of organising the 2020 show in Paris. His main priority was to ensure the show’s international development, launching a Tokyo version in 2014 and New York event this year. During his tenure, he also boosted development of Vinexpo Hong Kong.

Vinexpo therefore sees its MD leave it at a time when its repositioning strategy was in full swing and when competition between B to B wine events has been ramped up with the arrival of Comexposium on the scene.

Patrick Seguin, chairman of the Bordeaux-Gironde chamber of commerce commended “the professionalism and leadership of Guillaume Deglise, who successfully developed the Vinexpo brand in a very competitive sector”. The recruitment of his successor is ongoing.
