Figures released for the 2018 Vinisud show in Montpellier revealed that 25,500 visitors attended the event, along with 1,420 exhibitors. Also worth noting is the share of international visitors, with 28% travelling from 76 countries. The geographical distribution of exhibitors showed that 16 countries were represented.

Visitor attendance is up from last year when footfall reached 20,775 according to the organisers, with the number of foreign visitors totalling 32 per cent, from 70 countries. Nevertheless, the number of visitors in 2018 is down on 2016, which saw 31,500 visitors and 1,650 exhibitors attending.

 

In 2019, Vinisud will be held concurrently with the VinoVision show, which was created last year and brings together French wines from cool climate regions (Loire, Champagne, Burgundy, Alsace and Beaujolais). The two exhibitions will take place at the Porte de Versailles from 10 to 12 February, starting on a Sunday. “Each one will take place in a different hall, numbers 4 and 7, and will have two separate identities”, said Vinisud director Pascale Ferranti. The aim is to develop a buyer-driven proposition featuring wines offering two complementary product styles from “cool and warm wine” regions. VinoVision and Vinisud want to build two hallmark images of France’s two clear wine propositions. “And stop petty squabbles in order to focus on a single objective, i.e. gaining market shares in export markets!" added Ferranti.

 

The 2019 event will focus mainly on export markets. “The Parisian Horeca trade and wholesalers will also attend, but our target is truly international. The aim is to showcase the entire French proposition under one roof”.
