Alexandre Bernier becomes the new cellar master at Romanée-Conti

After 40 years of dedicated, loyal service, Bernard Noblet, the cellar master at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy, retires at the end of January 2018. After joining the estate in 1978 to assist his father André, the then cellar master, he took over from him in 1986.

Alexandre Bernier, who had been assisting Noblet for 8 years, will now replace him. The 37-year-old graduate in vineyard management and winemaking previously worked at Domaine Chanson Père & Fils in Beaune. He will continue the work of Bernard Noblet “in the spirit of the estate, based on teamwork where executives, vineyard manager (Nicolas Jacob) and cellar master (Alexandre Bernier) are involved in all decisions”, said Aubert de Villaine, co-director of Romanée-Conti.

No future changes in management or ownership...

As a reminder, Romanée Conti is a company half owned by the Gaudin de Villaine family, and half by the descendants of the Leroy family: the three Roch children and Perrine Fenal.

Aubert de Villaine and Henry-Frédéric Roch, assisted by Bertrand de Villaine, are co-managers. They report to a Supervisory Board composed of Henri de Villaine and Perrine Fenal. “No changes are expected in the short term," said the estate’s co-manager.
