Vinexpo doubles footprint for New York comeback

Wednesday November 01 2017 by Vitisphere

Ranging from Loire negociant Ackerman to Wines of South Africa, the 115 exhibitors* currently registered to take part in Vinexpo New York have prompted the organisers to double the show’s footprint. A total 7,600 m2 will be used on March 5 and 6 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. A 3,400m2 pavilion has been added to the 4,200 m2 space originally booked for the event.

King of New York

Organised by Vinexpo – an offshoot of the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry – and American event firm Diversified Communications, the Vinexpo New York trade show aims to open up North American wine markets for the industry. It will also attempt to establish a footing in New York following its only previous bid with the non-trade Rendez-Vous by Vinexpo event which ran from November 16-18, 2012 in Manhattan. Since 2014, the United States have become the world’s largest wine consumer market, importing 1.1 billion bottles annually. Quoting Vinexpo research, which has become their mantra, the organisers stress that the market is expected to grow by 7% by 2020.

*Representing a total 16 countries, exhibitors come from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Croatia, Spain, Greece, Moldova, Russia, Sweden and Uruguay.
