The Binderer group (Munich) has been sold to Grands Chais de France (Petersbach)”, said a laconic Peter Binderer, owner and manager of the eponymous group. Binderer made the announcement to staff at the Munich head office and the Bingen am Rhein factory on October 11, said a press statement, adding, “The sale of shares is subject to approval by the German anti-trust authorities”.

A major player in the German wine market with sales of 60 million bottles annually, Binderer is selling Binderer St. Ursula Weinkellerei in Germany and Danubian in Hungary, along with subsidiary companies Binger St. Rochusberg Weinhandels, Torre Giacomo and Bingerer Wine Select. More significantly, though, the transaction also involves French regional wine brands Le Filou (Comté Tolosan, Gard, Méditerrannée…) and Corsaire (Corse) as well as Italian brands D’Amati (Sicily) and Sovinello 2Go (sparkling premixes in cans), Spanish wines El Prado and Mexican wines Iguado.
