For its first Hong Kong event, ProWine Asia’s organisers are patting themselves on the back after the show was attended by 12,200 trade visitors and 310 exhibitors. It took place from May 8 to 11 as part of the catering show Hofex. The wine and spirits pavilion welcomed mostly visitors from Hong Kong (65% of attendees), making it a very regional event. Other visitors came from Southern China, Macao, Taiwan and the Philippines, stated a press release. “A lot of exhibitors from our international show networks have prioritised development of the Asia-Pacific region”, stressed Marius Berlemann, director of ProWein (Messe Düsseldorf).

Announced a year ago – just before the official opening of Vinexpo Hong Kong which welcomed 17,000 visitors and 1,300 exhibitors – the partnership with Hofex is part of Messe Düsseldorf’s strategy of partnering with existing events. In Singapore, it has hooked up with Food & Hotel Asia whilst ProWine China is held in conjunction with FHC China; the event welcomed 12,400 visitors and 650 exhibitors last November.
