Sunday March 12 2017 by Vitisphere

Prowein is due to wecome 6,400 exhibitors from the global wine and spirits industry from March 19 to 21, 2017, an increase of 3% on last year. Italy always has the largest exhibitor contingent with 1,500 participants, followed by France with a healthy 1,400-strong exhibitor attendance. Combined, the two countries account for 45% of wines presented during the Dusseldorf show, well ahead of Germany (950 exhibitors), the New World (600), Spain (550), Austria (320) and Portugal (300).
Amongst leading exhibitor countries, only France has witnessed a surge in attendance with a rise of 8% on last year; conversely, there is no change in numbers for Italy or Spain, whilst German attendance has dropped by 5% this year. Most French exhibitors (840) will be located on the French pavilion with producers, merchants and Wine Tech representatives once again under the umbrella brand ‘Made in France, Made With Love’ – rolled out for the first time by Business France. As the country’s ‘National Agency for Supporting the International Development of the French Economy’, Business France took over Sopexa’s role as organiser of international shows on January 1, 2017, as part of the state’s simplification of the overseas support scheme for businesses.
