River wine tourism: Bernard Magrez takes a stake in Bordeaux River Cruise

Monday December 12 2016 by Vitisphere

Claiming to be the “leading firm for exclusive wine tourism”, the Bernard Magrez Luxury Wine Experience agency has bought a stake in Bordeaux River Cruise. Opening up a river route for Bordeaux wines, the cruise company offers top-end experiences on its boats, sailing between Bordeaux, its estuary and its vineyards. The river experience complements Bernard Magrez’s existing solutions on dry land. The aim is to connect and add an extra dimension to his tourism options which range from cultural patronage to hotel accommodation and restaurants.

Bordeaux River Cruise will thus be providing cruises to Bernard Magrez’s listed properties, artistic performances linked to the contemporary collection at his cultural institute, gourmet dinners mirroring his Grande Table – a 2-star Michelin restaurant combined with a 5-star hotel – and concerts showcasing his collector instruments, including a Stradivarius. There will even be blending courses by the start-up B-Winemaker, which was taken over in 2015 after a stake had been bought previously.
