In an attempt to boost consumption of the region’s wines in restaurants, the Rhone Valley wine marketing board InterRhône is partnering once again with the national ‘Tous au Restaurant’ promotional thrust, the seventh of its kind which is due to take place this year from September 19 to October 2. As part of the promotion, restaurateurs do ‘buy-one-get-one-free’-type offers on set menus. The marketing board’s involvement aims to heighten awareness of Côtes du Rhône wines during the promotion amongst gourmet and ‘bistronomy’ restaurateurs. The wines will be showcased on all the event’s promotional material, through tastings in seven French towns and cities and literature and kits for staging the event sent out to restaurateurs. This year, 1,500 restaurants are taking part, which is more than in previous years. In 2015, 1,000 restaurants joined the promotion and 575,000 patrons took advantage of the offer.

The Rhone Valley wine marketing board is also hosting another promotion called ‘Aux Couleurs des Côtes du Rhône’ in 3,000 wine merchants’, wine bars and restaurants in a bid to promote its wines in Horeca and wine store channels. The event will be rolled out from September to November 2016. Over 2,300 kits including posters, serving trays, menu boards and table tents have been sent out to wholesalers and distributors. 600,000 placemats will cover the tables of nearly 1,000 restaurants and brasseries between Lyon and Avignon.
