Rosés: Castel claims to be world leader

Tuesday May 31 2016 by Vitisphere

With a portfolio of brands spanning most of the French rosé producer regions, Castel says it is satisfied with its success in the segment. Its sales policy has prompted the French negociant firm to claim it has “become the French expert and global leader for rosé, selling around 5 bottles of rosé every second worldwide”. Rosés now account for 27.5% of group sales, posting 2.8% growth by volume in 2015 and 7.8% by value.

The group owes this growth to its consistent policy of innovation, launching Les Calandières under the PGI Mediterranée label in 2014 and L’Océade in 2015, labelled PGI Atlantique, with a boxed version released this year. Listel, the leading rosé brand in France and worldwide, is innovating this year with Listel on Ice, Listel Bio and Listel Rosé Nature, extending the range of low-alcohol, semi-sparkling flavoured wines with a sales target of 500,000 bottles this year.

In addition to Listel, the group’s other long-standing rosé brands are Roche Mazet – selling one bottle every second in France – Billette, Aimé Roquesante, Plessis Duval and Château Cavalier.
