The cork industry seeks to make a splash at Vinisud

Visitors to next month’s trade show in Montpellier, Vinisud, certainly won’t be able to miss cork: the industry is ramping up its presence and promoting one of wine’s longest-standing and most ubiquitous allies, with no fewer than 12 billion corks sold worldwide every year. One thousand collection bins will be dotted around the show and visitors will be invited to make an eco-friendly gesture by depositing their used corks in them. Afterwards, they will be able to visit the Vinisud Digital Hub and discover the three interactive frescoes stretching over 2 metres in length allowing them to live a ‘cork experience’ and find out more about the performances of this type of closure. The cork industry has also planned a more academic presentation during a Master Class on wine faults.
