Creative spark from Provence: Château Sainte-Roseline launches a sparkling rosé
C

Château Roseline, which produces 400,000 bottles a year, half of which are rosé, is to launch a new sparkling version. Reserved mainly for cellar door sales, the new sparkling rosé has been named ‘Etincelle’ or spark. It is blended from 50% Mourvèdre and 50% Grenache. The second fermentation, using the traditional bottle fermentation method, is handled by a sub-contractor; disgorging occurs six months later. The Château’s ambition is to respond to “the increasing popularity” of sparkling wines. It is the newest addition to an already impressive line-up of estate wines (La Chapelle de Sainte-Roseline, La Cuvée Prieure, La Lampe de Méduse and Le Cloître de Sainte-Roseline) and negociant wines with two exclusive Horeca listings: Harmonie de Roseline and Perle de Roseline, as well as two exclusive products for multiple grocers: Prestige de Roseline and Instant de Roseline.
