Vin et Societe : The Men of the year 2014 for the Revue des Vins de France

Friday January 17 2014 by Vitisphere

For the 2014 vintage of its wine prizes, the Revue des Vins de France put forward the defense of the french vignoble. Possibly even its resistance, by naming Audrey Bourolleau and Joël Forgeau the woman and the man of the year.

Respectively Director and President of the Industry Association Vin et Societe, they orchestrated the #cequivavraimentsaoulerlesfrançais campaign and had all industry players regroup behind this (production, negoce, trade and sommeliers) to prevent a tax increase on wines and a thoughening if the Evin Law.

With this special price, the RVF’s editors pay tribute to « the rebirth of the Vin et Société Association following 10 years of relentless anti-wine campaigns by hygenist lobbies ».

2014 should see the pair further challenged with a new Public Safety law which wants to « curb agressively and early on whatever has an influence on one’s health ».

With a total of 10 prizes awarded, the RVF also handed out the following :

- Yves and Jean-Pierre Confuron (domaine Confuron-Cotetidot in Vosne-Romanée), as « winemakers of the year » ;

- Romain Paire (domaine des Pothiers en Côte Roannaise) as the « year’s discovery »;

- la Chablisienne (300 members spread over 1 250 hectares) : Cooperative Cellar of the year ;

- Louis Roederer Champagne (Reims) : Brand of the year;

- For its Oenotouristical offer : château Troplong-Mondot (Saint-Emilion) as most welcome winery in 2014.

- Sommellier Bruno Bozzer is awarded the caviste of the year award for his shop La Java des Flacons (Annecy) ;

- Carrefour Market from Bordeaux-Caudéran gets the Hypermarket prize ;

- Gilles Reeb (restaurant Au Canon d'Or from Mulhouse) for his wine list ;

- Manager of the La Pinardothek website, Sandrine Goeyvaerts is the wineblogger of the year ;

- Allwing wine tasting without the bottle, the Coravin syste, is 2014’s innovation.
