Monday March 18 2013 by Vitisphere

The United States of America are the second export destination in value for French wines (the United Kingdom ranks first). French wine shipments to the United States added up to1.17 million hectoliters in 2012, worth 1.03 billion euros (+15.12% and +17.37% compared to 2011). A bottle of French wine sold for an average 9.52 €/liter in the US. In the US, more than 90% of French wines are imported in bottle.

Overall, the U.S. market has favoured entry level wines, with sales progressing faster in volume than in value : compared to 2011, the total U.S. imports of wine increased by 15% in volume and 5.1% in value in 2012.
