"Les Grands Chais de France" adds to its investment program in wineries

GCF recently acquired the 72ha of Chateau La Reze (Azille) which are grown under the Bio label and of which 50% are in the Minervois appellation.
This winery is close to the Domaine de Tholomies, another Bio labelled producer, acquired in late 2011 by the Petersbach based group. The grapes of the Chateau de la Reze will be handled at Tholomies.
Today, the Alsace based negociant owns 250-300 ha in Languedoc. In addition to the Domaine de la Baume (Servian) acquired in 2003 from the Constellation group, the group bought an additional 100ha in late 2010, this in the Biterrois region (Montblanc, Saint Paul de Maureilhan). The IGP wines from this region are vinified at the Domaine de la Baume.
Investing in vines allows the group to secure its supply and manage the quality it is looking for. This strategy should continue opportunistically.
