Champagne: Sweden confirms a growing demand

In 2011, Sweden became the tenth importer country of Champagne (outperforming Netherlands). The country imported 2.4 million bottles valuing 36.6 million euros (+6.6 and +5.4% compared to 2010). The past 10 years, the Swedish demand for champagnes increased by 10% each year. In 2002 the Swedish monopoly (Systembolaget) just imported a million bottles. These sales are mainly concentrated at the end of the year. In 2011, 27% of Swedish annual champagnes sales were made in December.
