ccording to the latest data published by FranceAgriMeron, sales of non-GI wines in bulk showed an overall incrase of 33% in volume and 6% in value by the end of April 2012 (compared to March 2012). Sales of non-GI varietal wines increased significantly (up 80% compared to 2011). 1.12 million hl of these wines have already been traded.

In terms of PGI wines, trading volumes remained stable between March and April in 2012, but with an increase in value of 3%. The delay in the marketing of PGI wines in comparison with the previous season is gradually clearing for white and rosé wines. Red wine sales are meanwhile showing an improvement (up 5% in volume compared to 2011). Prices are increasing for red and rosé PGI wines in particular.

The sales volume of PDO wines increased by 1% and prices remained stable. Different colours are, however, showing different tendencies. Demand for red wine is pushing up the volume sold and prices, while the opposite is true of rosé wines. For white wines, the volume and values traded remain generally stable.
