Sylvie Cazes is the CEO of the Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande winery and also President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB). In her view : "the UGCB has made excellent progress on two fronts. We have had some success in the development of our promotional activities in France and worldwide. The arrival of a new vintage is the focus of our promotional campaigns, the highlight being the En Primeurs week in Bordeaux. "

"The 2011 vintage is excellent, even if there is not as much demand for it as the 2009 and 2010 vintages, both of which were exceptional. There is more demand in some markets than in others. For example, Chinese demand is decreasing whereas European demand shows encouraging growth. There has also been a marked increase in U.S demand. More reasonable pricing means the 2011 vintage is excellent value for money so, in the end, traders are receiving a very fair offer. The En Primeurs campaign has started slowly but the showing of certain brands is rapidly improving the dynamics.
