Bordeaux production launches trade company to ensure minimum price in bulk wine exchanges
A

new trading company was born on Monday, January 24 in Bordeaux. "Mercure" was created by the union of AOC Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur producers, in order to operate as a trader, to prevent wine barrels to sell under 800 euros "a fair price, only consistent enough to limit speculation driving prices downward" said Mr. Farges, the president of the union. The idea is to consolidate the supply of bulk wine to "climb back up the slope on a staircase [rather] than on a soap board that brings us down systematically whenever speculators want us to".Production represents a membership of trading in its approach, but for now, no Bordeaux wine merchant appears in the capital of Mercury.
