Languedoc-Roussillon: Muscat top of the bill for summer
T

The Conseil Interprofessionel des vins du Roussillon (CIVR) doesn’t change a winning team: for the fourth consecutive year, Muscat is on display with an olive that is "part pin-up, part adventurer", but "resolutely funny with a strong identity" which confirms the aperitif ambitions of the aromatic fortified wine in the name of the art of living which is in force from Nîmes to Perpignan. There is a lot of work to do: competition fom spirits, especially whisky and Provençal pastis, is tough at this moment of consumer life.
he campaign, led jointly by the CIVR and the CIVL (Conseil Interprofessionel des vins de Languedoc) under the banner of Sud de France, is flying the colours of Muscat from Rivesaltes, of course, without forgetting its Languedoc cousins from Frontignan, Mireval, Lunel or Saint-Jean de Minervois. Something new for 2010: 20 000 taster bottles of Muscat will be distributed to holidaymakers staying in Gites de France and Tourisme du Terroir accommodation.
