With 322 453 852 dispatched bottles, the sales of bottles of Champagne backed up of 4.8% in comparison with 2007, with a stressed decrease on the end of the year and a global performance lightly above the results of 2006 (but the CIVC recalled the exceptional performances of the year 2007).
To the first quarter 2009, the decrease attains 30% of the sales in comparison with the first quarter of 2008. Patrick Le Brun, president of the General Union of the Winegrowers (SGV), has explain that this percentage must be retrieved to the exceptional dynamism of the first months of 2008, again on the lance of 2007.
